The Old School House Museum at Ryde is now the home of many of the Department's archival treasures with examples of everything from intricate needlework to exercise books, furniture and school equipment.

The oldest building is the 1877 classroom complete with fireplace, long desks and a galleried section where infants children once sat. The three long, north facing windows were once the only form of lighting in the classroom.

The School House Museum is located in the grounds of the North Ryde Public School and is an excellent excursion venue for students and teachers wanting to sample classroom life in the late nineteenth century.
